A nice model of the famous WWII dive bomber that gained fame in the Battle
of
Midway. This model replicates the plane of Bombing 3 from the carrier
Enterprise which scored a critical direct hit on the carrier Soryu which
later
caused the carrier to catch fire and eventually sink. The kit is the
1/72nd scale
Airfix kit. I had to do a lot of mods to this kit like scratcbuilding the
entire
cockpit and instrument panel and rear seat area. I also could not find an
aftermarket canopy set which it really needed. I modified the kit canopy,
but I
would opt for the Hasegawa version the next time. I also drilled out the
holes in
the dive brakes. Aeromaster paints and decals from a Wildcat set for the
insignias were used as well as custom numbers to depict the plane.
